Comprehensive Eye Examinations

Our comprehensive eye examination includes a thorough ocular and systemic health history, as well as a detailed eye evaluation. This includes checking for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, and other potential sight-threatening eye conditions, as well as determining the need for glasses. We utilize the optomap® panoramic retinal camera to digitally document and monitor changes in the retina.

Contact Lens Examinations

Contact lens technologies continue to advance significantly year to year. We are here to guide you through your different options and choose the lens best suited for your needs. The contact lens examination involves a detailed measurement of the front curvature of the eye, evaluating the fit and movement of the contact lens on the eye, as well as the visual outcome. We will also teach you how to apply, remove and handle the contact lens yourself.

Custom and Complex Contact Lens Evaluations

Our office has become recognized throughout the ophthalmic community as a leader in medically necessary contact lens evaluations and treatments. Conditions routinely treated by our office include:

  •     Keratoconus

  •     Post-refractive surgery ectasia

  •     Corneal irregularity

  •     Traumatic and surgically induced iris or corneal damage

  •     Corneal scarring

  •     Diplopia

  •     Eye genetic birth defects

We specialize in large diameter gas permeable scleral shell fitting for patients not able to be fit with traditional contact lens designs. Also, soft prosthetic lenses for disfigured eyes with near normal or normal size can enhance quality of life, self-esteem, and cosmesis.

Also, lenses in both rigid and soft configurations for astigmatism and multifocal demands can be designed. We handle a large base of patients for these visually demanding contact lens designs on a referral basis from ophthalmologists, optometrists, primary care physicians, and our own loyal practice base from over 25 years in the same location.

Vision Therapy

Vision therapy is a doctor-supervised, non-surgical and individualized program designed to correct certain vision problems and/or improve visual skills. Vision and sensorimotor deficits can cause eyestrain, headaches, blurred or double vision, loss of place while reading, and difficulty maintaining attention on close work. Vision therapy sessions include procedures created to enhance the brain’s ability to control eye movements, eye teaming, eye alignment, focusing abilities and/or visual processing skills. It can also help reduce eye fatigue due to computer vision syndrome experienced by many adults and children. You can think of vision therapy as physical therapy for the eyes and the brain. Overall, the goal of vision therapy is to help people achieve comfortable binocular vision and to treat visual problems that cannot be remediated by the use of eyeglasses, contact lenses and/or surgery alone.

LASIK/Refractive Surgery Consultations

Refractive surgery technologies also advance quite rapidly. From custom wavefront lasik to lasik with intralase to implantable contact lenses, we are here to educate, guide, and choose the best option for your specific goals and needs. We are proud to work with some of the world’s most renowned refractive surgeons
