  • They have taken incredibly good care of my mom, so I have to recommend them 100%. Fixed her glasses and then fitted new ones, twice. They also have the trendiest selection of glasses I have seen anywhere. It made me want glasses even though I don't need them.

  • Our eye doctor retired and my husband and I were referred to Dr. Silver by a neighbor. My husband has rather complicated eye issues (damage to one eye) and we were worried...But we shouldn't have been. He is a wonderful doctor and his office is busy but efficient and pleasant. And they take Medicare, which I increasingly respect as the right thing for a caring and committed doctor to do.

  • I recently got glasses from here, and these guys are soooo awesome!! I needed to get an honest opinion about glasses and these guys did not hold back! They really helped me find a pair that was best for me. I went 3 times!! Until I decided and each time they were sooooo helpful and soo funny and sooo nice.

  • 5 stars for dr. Taketa!
I've been going to dr. Taketa ever since moving to la. He is very accessible, his office is open on weekends, and i was even able to get in touch with him when i was having a crazy eye emergency while away on vacation. He's not one of those "better 1, better 2? Better 1, better 2" at-a-million-miles-an-hour type of optometrists. He'll give you a chance to actually look at 2, and when you say, "they look pretty similar to me", he's cool with it.Even though i don't live in santa monica any more, it's still worth it to make the trek out there to see dr. Taketa. Which i'll have to do soon since my dog ate my glasses...

  • Been going to dr. Silver for years now albeit, i only go every other year cuz my eyes are pretty good lol...But i've still been there over the years nevertheless! They are very thorough on your eyes...Complete with all the standard tests: peripheral (follow the little blinking light!), reading the chart, close-up reading, checking good lenses against bad ones to find the best for you. They even have a gizmo that takes a picture of the inside/back of your eye which they use to compare against past photos. Very helpful for early detection of things such as glaucoma! As for the eyeglasses...They have a huge assortment to choose from at really reasonable prices so you don't have to go somewhere else to get specs. I just bought a kick-ass pair of bebe's for about $157 (not including the lenses). They also accept insurance so all in all, my last visit including the glasses with uv protection and anti-glare came to a whopping $100. :)

  • It's a scary thing when you are driving down a dark, deserted highway in Northern California and you realize you have no depth of field vision not to mention every car coming at you from ahead is starting to look fuzzy. This is how I found out that i needed glasses. Luckily I had a good friend who recommended the Drs. Silver and Taketa. I went in and got the full exam. The doctor was friendly and efficient - turns out I only need my glasses for driving and I found the cutest pair from prodesign:denmark. I get compliments on them all the time. Glasses on, I can now see the road signs which only makes me slightly better than most of the drivers in LA.
